Five 9s Digital Acquires 50k SF Single-Tenant Data Center in North Carolina
Five 9s Digital acquired a 50,000 SF single-tenant data center in the Charlotte metropolitan area adding to its data center portfolio in the Southeast and Midwest. This advanced data center was newly developed in 2014 as a build-to-suit for Northstate Technology Solutions and situated in the 350 acre North Carolina Research Campus. The North Carolina Research Campus is a scientific community of eight universities, a host of global companies, the David Murdock Research Institute, and entrepreneurial ventures.
The North Carolina Research Campus is located in Kannapolis just north of Charlotte and is undergoing an exciting transformation including a full revitalization of downtown Kannapolis, new multi-family, office and medical developments, and the newly completed $50M Kannapolis Cannon Ballers minor league baseball stadium now known as the Atrium Health Ballpark. All of these new developments are located at the North Carolina Research Campus offering a fully walkable community with a wide array of amenities, living and employment opportunities.
The Northstate Technology Solutions data center is on a long-term lease and offers the Charlotte and surrounding corporate community excellent options for a range of high quality data center solutions. Northstate Technology Solutions is a division of Northstate Communications and was acquired by Segra in May of 2020 which has over 23,000 miles of fiber that connect 9,000 on-net locations and six data centers throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states.
