Digital Realty Completes $7.8 Billion Acquisition Of Dupont Fabros
Digital Realty is now the world's eight-largest REIT
Digital Realty Trust completed its merger with Dupont Fabros in an all-stock transaction with an enterprise value of $7.8 billion. The merger brings Digital Realty's total number of data center to 157 and made it the world's eighth-largest REIT with a $25.2 billion market cap.
The deal consisted of the acquisition of 12 Dupont Fabros data centers with locations in Ashburn, VA, Chicaco and Silicon Valley, a development project in Toronto and new developments planned on land parcels in Phoenix and Oregon. Dupont Fabros has had successful history in landing large, hyperscale customers in its wholesale data center model which will add a number of customers to the Digital Realty portfolio of customers including companies such as Facebook, Apple, Yahoo and Microsoft among others.
The merger provides a broad geographic diversification for the Dupont Fabros shareholders and gives Digital Realty Trust an enhanced customer base in the multi-megawatt hyperscale data center arena.
